Biblical Clarity ("we," "us," or "our") is operated by Fernando J. Padron, a biblical researcher based in Springfield, Missouri. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you visit biblicalclarity.org (the "Site"). By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.
We collect information in two ways: information you provide directly, and information collected automatically.
A. Information You Provide Directly
When you create a member account, you provide your full name, email address, and a password. When you subscribe to our newsletter, you provide your email address and name. When you submit a comment, your name and comment content are collected. When you participate in a research survey, we collect your responses along with any demographic information you voluntarily provide (such as age group, ethnicity, education level, general location, and church attendance). We do not collect your street address, Social Security number, financial account information, or government identification numbers.
B. Information Collected Automatically
When you visit the Site, our server automatically records your Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, and pages visited. For research survey submissions from non-registered users, we store a one-way cryptographic hash of your IP address solely to detect duplicate submissions — this hash cannot be reversed to identify you. We use PHP session cookies to maintain your login state during a browsing session. These session cookies expire when you close your browser or log out. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising trackers.
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We do not use your information for targeted advertising.
Our newsletter and email communications comply with the federal CAN-SPAM Act (15 U.S.C. § 7701 et seq.). Each email we send will: (a) clearly identify Biblical Clarity as the sender; (b) include our contact information; (c) include a clear and conspicuous mechanism to unsubscribe; and (d) honor opt-out requests promptly. You may unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email or by visiting biblicalclarity.org/unsubscribe.php. We will process your opt-out within ten (10) business days. Unsubscribing from the newsletter does not delete your member account.
We send newsletter emails using Brevo (Sendinblue SAS), a third-party email delivery service. Your name and email address are transmitted to Brevo solely for the purpose of delivering our communications. Brevo's privacy policy is available at brevo.com.
Participation in any research survey hosted on this Site is entirely voluntary. Survey responses are collected anonymously — we do not collect your name in connection with survey responses. Demographic information requested in surveys (such as age group, ethnicity, education, and general geographic region) is collected in aggregate form for academic research purposes only.
Research data collected through this Site may be cited in academic papers or publications by the contributors named above. All such citations will use aggregate or anonymized data and will not identify individual respondents.
Because survey responses are anonymous, we are unable to locate or delete a specific individual's survey response upon request. If you do not wish your responses to be used, please do not submit the survey.
We do not sell or disclose your personal information to third parties except in the following limited circumstances:
We retain your member account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal information within thirty (30) days, except where retention is required by law or necessary to resolve disputes. Comments you have posted will be anonymized rather than deleted to preserve the integrity of article discussions. Anonymous survey responses are retained indefinitely for ongoing academic research purposes.
This Site is a general-audience academic platform directed to adults and is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), 15 U.S.C. § 6501 et seq., and the FTC's COPPA Rule as amended effective June 23, 2025, if we discover that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will promptly delete such information from our records. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us immediately at the address below.
Research surveys on this Site are intended for adults who self-identify as committed followers of Jesus Christ. Participants under 18 years of age should obtain parental or guardian permission before participating.
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include password hashing using industry-standard bcrypt encryption, HTTPS encryption for all data transmitted between your browser and our servers, and access controls limiting database access to authorized personnel. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach affecting personal information of Missouri residents, we will provide notification as required by Mo. Rev. Stat. § 407.1500.
You have the following rights with respect to your personal information:
Missouri residents have the right to receive notice of data breaches affecting their personal information under Mo. Rev. Stat. § 407.1500. We comply fully with this requirement.
