Research Participant Consent Notice

Effective Date: April 29, 2026  ·  Applicable to all surveys hosted on biblicalclarity.org

This Research Participant Consent Notice applies to all surveys, assessments, and data collection instruments hosted on biblicalclarity.org. Please read it carefully before participating in any survey. By submitting a survey response, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Notice and voluntarily consent to participate.

1.Purpose of the Research

Research surveys hosted on this Site are conducted independently by the contributors listed below. The purpose of each survey is described in the introduction to that specific instrument. Surveys are intended to gather data related to discipleship formation, ecclesiology, spiritual development, and related topics within the biblical and theological disciplines. The resulting data may be cited in academic papers or publications by the contributors.

2.Principal Investigators

Fernando J. Padron

Principal Investigator
Springfield, Missouri

Miguel Morales

Principal Investigator
Wilmore, Kentucky

Questions about a specific survey may be directed to the principal investigator identified in that survey's introduction, or to us at contact@biblicalclarity.org.

3.Voluntary Participation

Your participation in any survey on this Site is entirely voluntary. You are free to:

  • Decline to participate in the survey;
  • Skip any individual question you do not wish to answer;
  • Withdraw at any time before submitting the survey by closing your browser window or navigating away.

There are no penalties or consequences for declining to participate or for withdrawing. Because survey responses are submitted anonymously and we cannot identify individual respondents, we are unable to withdraw or delete a specific individual's response after it has been submitted. If you do not wish your responses to be used in any way, please do not submit the survey.

4.Anonymity and Confidentiality

Survey responses are collected anonymously. We do not collect your name, email address, or any other directly identifying information in connection with your survey responses. The demographic information requested in surveys (such as age group, ethnicity, education level, general geographic region, and church attendance) is collected in aggregate and will not be used to identify individual respondents.

To prevent duplicate submissions, we store a one-way cryptographic hash of your IP address. This hash cannot be used to identify you and is not shared with any third party. Survey response data is stored securely on servers hosted by Namecheap, Inc. and is accessible only to the principal investigators identified above.

When research results are published, data will be reported in aggregate form only. No individual responses will be identified or attributable to any specific person.

5.What We Collect

For each survey submission we collect: your responses to each survey question or item; any demographic information you voluntarily provide; a one-way hash of your IP address (for duplicate detection only); and the date and time of submission. We do not collect your name, email address, device identifiers, or any directly identifying information.

6.How Data Will Be Used

Your anonymous responses may be used for the following purposes:

  • Statistical analysis to identify patterns and trends relevant to the research question;
  • Inclusion in academic papers or publications authored by the contributors named above;
  • Publication in academic papers, journals, books, or conference presentations;
  • Publication in summary or aggregate form on this Site.

Your responses will not be shared with third parties for commercial, marketing, or advertising purposes. Your responses will not be shared with your church, employer, educational institution, or any organization with which you are affiliated.

7.Risks and Benefits

Risks. Participation in these surveys poses minimal risk. The primary risk is the unlikely possibility that your responses could be associated with you through demographic information you voluntarily provide. We minimize this risk by not collecting directly identifying information and by reporting data in aggregate form only.

Some survey questions may prompt personal reflection about your spiritual practices and formation. You are free to skip any question that you find uncomfortable. If a question causes distress, please feel free to discontinue the survey.

Benefits. Participation may provide you with an opportunity for personal reflection on your spiritual formation and practices. Your responses will contribute to scholarly research that may benefit church leaders, theological educators, and the broader Christian community.

8.Eligibility

Unless otherwise specified in a particular survey's introduction, surveys on this Site are intended for adults who self-identify as committed followers of Jesus Christ. We do not knowingly collect survey responses from children under the age of 13. Persons between the ages of 13 and 17 should obtain parental or guardian permission before participating. By participating, you represent that you meet the eligibility requirements stated in the survey introduction.

9.Independent Research

The research surveys on this Site are conducted independently by the contributors listed above. This Site is not sponsored by, affiliated with, or operating under the oversight of any educational institution, church, or other organization. The research represents the contributors' own independent academic work. Views expressed and data collected belong solely to the individual contributors.
